Getting started
Quickstart
Create an account, install Synonode Runner on the computer with your model, and finish your first task.
Before you begin
You need a computer with Linux or Windows 10/11, a model you can run on it (or an API key for an online one), and git. On Windows the installer brings a portable Git if you don't have Git for Windows. On Ubuntu, install git with:
sudo apt install git
Set up
- Create an account
Go to synonode.com/app and sign up with your email and a password. New accounts are approved by an admin. Until then, the app shows Waiting for approval. Press Check again once you've heard back.
- Copy your install command
Log in. With no computer connected yet, Synonode shows Set up your first computer with a Linux and a Windows tab. The command there is yours: it works for 7 days, on as many computers as you like.
Don't share your install command. Anyone with it can download the runner for 7 days. They still can't use your account without your login.
- Run it on the computer with your model
On Linux, paste it into a terminal. It may ask for your password once, for the libraries its browser needs. On Windows, paste it into PowerShell. It needs no administrator rights and no restart.
The runner installs into your home folder and brings its own Node.js and browser.
- Start your model, then open Synonode Runner
Open Synonode Runner from your apps menu (Linux) or the desktop (Windows). Its window shows your account, the model and the connection. Log in, then click Detect to find your model.
- Open synonode.com
On any computer or phone. Your computer shows in the top bar, and you're ready.
Your first task
On the start page, type what you want and press Enter. A few to try:
- I want a recipe app where I can save my own recipes: you'll get a few questions, then a plan, then two designs to choose from.
- Explain how a hash map works, with a small demo I can try: an answer with an interactive example.
- Compare the three most popular heat pumps for a small flat, as a Word document: a researched report you can download.
Each new request becomes a project: a folder on your computer with its own chats, memory and git history. Synonode names it from its work after the first reply.
Bring a project you already have
On the start page, choose Or import from GitHub or a .zip. Private GitHub repositories work too, with a token. You can also drop a .zip anywhere on the start page.
