Synonode Docs

Make it yours

Settings

Every page in Settings and what's on it. Open Settings from your account menu; search it with the box at the top.

Your settings follow your account: every computer you run Synonode Runner on, and every browser or phone you open Synonode in, has the same ones. That covers your profile, every switch in Settings, Time and focus, how Synonode looks (theme, fonts, sizes, voice speed), your memory about you, the skills you made or added, and your design systems.

What stays where it is: notifications and the voice (they belong to each device), and on each computer its model and its key, your GitHub token, your connectors' logins, and your projects.

General

  • Appearance: theme (light, dark or system), chat font, transcript text size, transcript width, motion, and Model speed: how fast the model writes, beside the message box's buttons and on each running agent in Background tasks (this device only).
  • Voice: Microphone in the message box, Microphone sounds (the chime when it starts and stops listening), the Speech model that writes down what you say (Whisper on the computer's processor: Fast or Accurate), the Language you speak, and the voice, speed and language for Read aloud.
  • Notifications: Tell me when Synonode is done or needs me, on this device.
  • Updates: the runner's version, checking for a new one, and whether updates are taken by themselves once the model is idle.
  • Network: Open on your network lets a phone or another computer on the same Wi-Fi open Synonode, at the address shown under it. It takes effect at once. Off by default without accounts, since then nothing asks for a login. A runner always stays on its own computer (you reach it through synonode.com), so it has no such switch.
  • App cache: Clear cache & reload gets a fresh copy of the app in this browser.

Account

Your name, What should Synonode call you?, Instructions for Synonode (rules about you that apply in every project), your password, and Log out.

Privacy

Where your conversations are kept, what leaves the computer, Web access, Incognito conversations, and Export data.

Usage

Messages per day, projects, and how much space they take on disk.

Capabilities

SettingWhat it doesDefault
Web search and pagesSearch the web and open pages to read them.On
File toolsRead, Edit, Write, Glob and Grep: Edit changes exactly one passage and refuses a file that changed since it was read. Off: files are read and changed through the terminal alone, one choice fewer for a small model that picks tools badly. /tools shows which tools are on and which are off.On
Show files and pagesShow you the files it makes, in the chat with a download, and open pages and big changes in the preview. On
SkillsLoad a skill when the work calls for it.On
Give the guides by themselvesOn: Synonode gives each building guide (web apps, checking, design, debugging, a new project) when the project calls for it. Off: the model loads them when it needs them, as it loads skills, which leaves more of the context for your conversation.Off
ConnectorsUse the services you connected.On
Output styleDefault, Explanatory or Learning. See Output style.Default
PermissionAsk, Accept edits or Auto. See Permissions.Auto
Auto-compactSummarize a conversation by itself when it nearly fills the context. On
Commit attributionCommits Synonode makes end with Co-Authored-By: Synonode, and its pull requests with "Generated with Synonode", so the history shows what it wrote. Takes effect in new conversations. On
Name projectsName an unnamed project from its work after the first reply. On
Suggest what to say nextSuggest your next message in grey in the box. Tab takes it.On
Written greetingThe start page's line is written by the model while it's idle.On
Stop previews not in useStop a project's preview server when you leave it or it sits idle.On
Power saveStop the model after 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour with no reply, to free the computer's memory and graphics card and let it sleep. Your next message starts it again; that reply waits for the model to load, and the chat says so. With llama.cpp started with --slot-save-path, the conversation's cache is saved before the model stops and restored after, so the model does not read the whole conversation again.30 minutes

Memory

Everything remembered about you and your projects, the memory switches, import and reset. See Memory and instructions.

Time and focus

  • Break reminders: a nudge once you've spent a set time with Synonode in a day (Remind me after). You can stop, snooze it or keep going.
  • Quiet hours: time you set aside (Quiet from, Quiet until, Quiet days). If you open Synonode then, it reminds you, and you can always continue.

Reflect

Your recap: a summary of what you worked on, made from your recent chats when you open the page, for the period you choose. Incognito chats are left out.

Design systems

Your brands' colours, fonts and style, for designs and builds. See Design systems.

Code

Code colours (one for a light page, one for a dark one) and the Code font; the Interface font of menus, sidebars and panels; the Default transcript view, Show agents' text (what an agent writes between its tools; off, only the tools it used) and Show workflow text (a workflow's progress lines; off, only its agents); and Git: Enable Git and Smart commit.
